Both the Henbury and Woodford lines descend from John Senior c1325 known as Jenkin. His father was Thomas c1300-1350, the younger brother of John c1286-1360 who built Marton Chapel and is head of the main Marton line. Jenkin’s eldest son Thomas c1350-1390 received the Henbury estate and his younger son Nicholas, c1364-1414, the Woodford estate.
So far, it looks likely the Captain Richard US line could descend from a branch of the Woodford Line who went to Lincolnshire via Nicholas c1510 while the Thomas of Dorchester line seems to descent from Henbury via Thomas c1444. This family occur in the Prestbury registers where they are noted as being ‘of Butley Township’. Another interesting line splitting from Thomas c1444 is the Ainsworth, Lancashire line with a DNA match now resident in Australia.

Participants
The following people are participants in the Davenport Surname DNA Project, who have been Big-Y tested, and have been shown to descend from the Henbury and Woodford branches. This includes, from the USA, the Thomas of Dorchester line and the Captain Richard line.
Note: Under the ancestor column, “**” is used to separate the tree which the participant supplied and that which researchers for the DNA Project believe is his connection to the Cheshire line.
